10. Showstopper… Kanye West upstaging Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards after she won a moon man for the Best Female Video over Beyonce. Kanye later apologized to Taylor.
9. Oprah says, “Good-bye”… Oprah made the stunning announcement to all of her faithful fans that she will end her show in 2011. She plans to focus on her OWN cable channel.
8. Making Moves… Comedian and syndicated radio personality Steve Harvey added author to his list of accomplishments this year after he released the book, “Act Like a Lady,Think Like a Man.” Harvey’s book has sold more than a million copies and a movie project is on the horizon.
7. Crack is Wack… Whitney Houston came back strong with her album “I Look To You,” which sold more than 300,000 copies in the first week. Whitney also sat down with Oprah and discussed everything that happened in her past from drug abuse and her marriage to her ex-husband, Bobby Brown.
6. Weezy Baby… Lil Wayne had a busy year from being arrested and preparing to serve jail time to becoming the father of two more babies. Former R&B singer Nivea gave birth to their son, Neal and actress Lauren London gave birth to a son as well. Lil’ Wayne also released the first album of his Young Money crew, which features Drake and Nicki Minaj.
5. Breakups without makeups… Shaquille O’Neal and his wife, Shaunie are calling it quits again. After pictures and emails of Shaq’s alleged affair with the fiance’ of Washington Wizards Gilbert Arenas hit the internet. Shaunie and the kids packed up their things and went back home to L.A. she has since filed for a legal separation. Nas and Kelis’ divorce became final in December, which resulted in Kelis getting $51,000 a month in support payments. Usher also signed them “Papers” ending his marriage with Tameka Raymond, who is the mother of his two sons. Even Beyonce’s parents are ending their 20 plus year marriage. Matthew and Tina Knowles say there won’t be any drama surrounding their pending divorce they both plan to play nice and go their separate ways.
4. Cheetah Woods… Tiger Woods lost his player’s card after he left a voicemail to one of his jump-offs, which set off a domestic dispute at his Windermere home with his wife, Elin. This resulted in him being rushed to the hospital, jump-offs coming out spilling all the juicy details of their relations with Tiger. As a result his wife asked for a rewrite of their prenup, but now she is rumored to be moving forward with the big D…divorce. All of this drama has cost Tiger some of his endorsement deals and he has decided to take a hiatus from playing golf while he works on getting his personal life in order.
3. Shocking… Chris Brown laying hands on R&B songstress Rihanna right before they both were set to perform at the Grammy’s. After news of the altercation broke TMZ published photos of Rihanna’s battered face, which shocked all of Chris Brown’s fans. In an interview Rihanna said the beating started over a text Chris had received and he lied about it. Chris later admitted to beating Rihanna and received five years of probation, community service, and he was ordered to stay away from her. Since then both artist have released albums and are focused on moving forward with their careers separately.

1. FAREWELL TO THE KING OF POP… Michael Jackson’s death was by far the top story of 2009. His live-in doctor, Conrad Murray, found Michael unconscious in his California home. He was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Michael was in the process of preparing for his “This Is It” overseas concert. Once word spread of his death speculation into how he died did as well. Michael’s family grieved publicly and privately, during the public memorial his daughter; Paris spoke so lovingly about her father. Since, Michael’s death the investigation continues as to who should be held responsible. Nevertheless, Michael Jackson will be remembered for his dance moves, music, and his charity work.
